My First Trip To Haiti

Reactions:
This year has been absolutely phenomenal so far.  I can not begin to tell how much this year has transformed my life.  It is really amazing when you feel like you are living in purpose and God continues to blow your mind.  I am so happy to be on this journey and I look forward to sharing more and more as it unfolds.

Well as the title suggests this blog post will be about my first visit to Haiti.

In the western hemisphere, Haiti is a country that has been look upon with a sense of contempt or condemnation. There is so much negativity surrounding Haiti.  This is very unfortunate.  Unfortunately, I am not completely sure of all of the reasons that this is so.  Nevertheless, on my visit to Haiti this year I was pleasantly surprised.

I saw a country that was determined to make it.  Clearly over the years Haiti has seen so good times and some really really horrible times but the underlying current in Haiti is one of resilience.  This was evident of the amount of people on the road moving about or selling a wide variety of products just to make an honest living.  Is there crime and miscreant activity in Haiti, OF COURSE.  Yet in spite of this it appears that the majority of people just want to make an honest living to take care of their own.

This trip was only a few days but I do plan on going back to Haiti some day and spending longer and seeing much much more.  Nevertheless, I am happy to be working with a great team of individuals who are embarking on a mission to change the landscape of Haiti in any way we can.  We are lead by Dr. Mercidieu "Phil" Phillips and our goal is to raise up and train hundreds of leaders in Haiti who will carry out the work of change in their local context.
