I am The Masterpiece

Reactions:
Have you ever wondered what's in a name?

Why name a brand of tennis shoes NIKE?

Why name really expensive computers Apple? (Not a Mac)

Why name a church a very particular very specific name? (Unless you are going for every holy sounding name i.e. The Holy Come as thou art redeemed kingdom ministry church)

The thing is that there is alot in a name.
NIKE means... Victory (greek)...do I need to say any more, "just do it"

APPLE went with this name because...Steve Jobs said on naming Apple, he thought it was
fun, spirited, and not intimidating“.  This is really good seeing that at the time, computers were seen as very intimidating machinery. Now Apple is still encouraging us to "Think Differently".

On the naming of Apple, he said he was “on one of my fruitarian diets.” He said he had just come back from an apple farm, and thought the name sounded “fun, spirited and not intimidating.”

This weekend, my Pastor, spoke on the topic "It's in me, It's always been in me" as we kicked off our Christmas series, "FINISH IT...A Turbo Christmas story".  In the sermon he is using the movie, Turbo as a spring board for biblical truths.  Well there was a part of the message where he talked about Names and kind of gives evidence of who we are as a person.  One example that he uses was God changing the name of Jacob which meant Usurper...To that of Isra-EL meaning God who prevails.  Pastor then challenged the congregation to consider what we called ourselves because what we call ourselves has a lot to do with our destiny. Hmmmm....

When we were little, my mom gave my brother, sister and I special names.  These were not just our government names but she gave us other names that she hoped would speak into our character.

The name she gave me was "The Masterpiece of God's Creation."

I remember often thinking, "Really? Me?  The Masterpiece of what? The whole creation?....That is a tall order."  I also thought it was kind of arrogant if I go around calling myself the Masterpiece of God's Creation.  Yet, little did I know that this was not meant to be a badge that was worn overtly with a pompous attitude.  Rather, in her own special way my mother wanted me to know that I was special in God's eyes and God took the time to fashion me in God's way.  Therefore,  I had to live in such a way to show God off and be The Masterpiece that God created me to be.  It's in me, It's always been in me!

Therefore, as of today.  (Well yesterday) I have a renewed vigor and drive and shall embrace who I am.

I am The Masterpiece of God's Creation.
