I am The Masterpiece

Have you ever wondered what's in a name?

Why name a brand of tennis shoes NIKE?

Why name really expensive computers Apple? (Not a Mac)

Why name a church a very particular very specific name? (Unless you are going for every holy sounding name i.e. The Holy Come as thou art redeemed kingdom ministry church)

The thing is that there is alot in a name.
NIKE means... Victory (greek) I need to say any more, "just do it"

APPLE went with this name because...Steve Jobs said on naming Apple, he thought it was
fun, spirited, and not intimidating“.  This is really good seeing that at the time, computers were seen as very intimidating machinery. Now Apple is still encouraging us to "Think Differently".

On the naming of Apple, he said he was “on one of my fruitarian diets.” He said he had just come back from an apple farm, and thought the name sounded “fun, spirited and not intimidating.”

This weekend, my Pastor, spoke on the topic "It's in me, It's always been in me" as we kicked off our Christmas series, "FINISH IT...A Turbo Christmas story".  In the sermon he is using the movie, Turbo as a spring board for biblical truths.  Well there was a part of the message where he talked about Names and kind of gives evidence of who we are as a person.  One example that he uses was God changing the name of Jacob which meant Usurper...To that of Isra-EL meaning God who prevails.  Pastor then challenged the congregation to consider what we called ourselves because what we call ourselves has a lot to do with our destiny. Hmmmm....

When we were little, my mom gave my brother, sister and I special names.  These were not just our government names but she gave us other names that she hoped would speak into our character.

The name she gave me was "The Masterpiece of God's Creation."

I remember often thinking, "Really? Me?  The Masterpiece of what? The whole creation?....That is a tall order."  I also thought it was kind of arrogant if I go around calling myself the Masterpiece of God's Creation.  Yet, little did I know that this was not meant to be a badge that was worn overtly with a pompous attitude.  Rather, in her own special way my mother wanted me to know that I was special in God's eyes and God took the time to fashion me in God's way.  Therefore,  I had to live in such a way to show God off and be The Masterpiece that God created me to be.  It's in me, It's always been in me!

Therefore, as of today.  (Well yesterday) I have a renewed vigor and drive and shall embrace who I am.

I am The Masterpiece of God's Creation.

Its on, AGAIN....

So I woke this morning realizing that I needed to do something.  Really I had to make a change. Again?  Yes, Again.  I have been down this road before and tried to change but I haven't been able to get over that hump.

Well I say something yesterday from Jemi Health and Wellness' Facebook page that changed my perspective.

I don't know where they got it from but I thought it was phenomenal.  I thought this was very interesting when you really think about it.  So I am on board with this.  Therefore,  I am going at it again.

Let's go!!!

K. E. Y. S.

The word KEYS is a common word that we use everyday.  KEYS give us access to many possibilities.  Our keys give us the ability to unlock unlimited potential.

However, the reality is that many of us to do not use KEYS to unlock those possibilities. We allow ourselves to trapped in the little things and do not seek to go after those KEYS that will liberate. In school, we have been told that "Knowledge is the KEY", with this I agree and take it further in that, The Key is Knowledge because:

Getting or Seeking
Knowledge is
Yourself for

This is simply how we can unlock success..... Only with getting K.E.Y.S.

The national average is really low in The Bahamas and I dare say that many globally are facing the same problems of a people who are not as thirsty for knowledge.  We got to read and not just watch TV or movies all the time.  I can quote dozens of studies that show the effects of regular reading.  Nevertheless, it is safe to say that "Readers are Leaders".

My challenge for all of us is to really continue to seek/get knowledge through reading; for getting Knowledge is Equipping Yourself for Success.

Drive Conference

So I am getting to check out Drive Conference in Alpharetta, Georgia.  This is my first time at this conference.  I have one word: Amazing.

There are over 200 countries represented at this conference eg. France, Canada, Nigeria etc. I am totally blown away by the creativity and content that is being presented at this conference.  It is not just a place to learn how to do church but it goes even deeper into the why of things.  I am thinking that the challenge is the need for us to really examine and evaluate what we do when we do church.  I could go on and on about the singing, the welcome of the staff and overall feel of the conference. However,  I am really love the content.

North Point Community Church has created a model/template of doing church that works from them.  This template has created such a buzz that literally thousands have converged on their main campus to hear more.  NPCC's dynamic pastor, Andy Stanley is a generational preacher (or communicator as he calls himself)  who has not been locked into the heritage from which he came. This is great because he has been found away to change the method without seeking to compromise the message.

I am really happy to be here with the team from Bahamas Harvest.  I would recommend anyone to check out the Drive conference. or on twitter @driveconference
